Seinäjoki UAS schools

School of Business and Culture

The School of Business and Culture unit offers education in business administration, entrepreneurship and culture. The programmes leading to a degree title of a Bachelor of Business Administration are the Degree Programme in Business Management, the Degree Programme in SME Business Management (no full-time student intake in 2014), the Degree Programme in International Business and the Degree Programme in Library and Information Services. The programmes are worth 210 ECTS credits.

The programmes leading to a degree title of a Bacherlor of Culture and Arts are the Degree Programme in Cultural Management, the Degree Programme in Design and and the Degree Programme in Conservation (no intake in 2013). These programmes are worth 240 ECTS credits.

In all bachelor programmes in the field of business, the students have the opportunity to graduate to two European degrees with one study programme. Seinäjoki UAS has partner institutions in Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary and Lithuania. There will be even more partner institutions in the near future.

Adult education is also available in Seinäjoki, Alajärvi, Kauhava and Kurikka in the field of business administration.

In addition, the school offers two master's degree programmes in Seinäjoki. The Degree Programme in Entrepreneurship and Business Competence is carried out together with the Central Ostrobothnia University of Applied Sciences and the Vaasa University of Applied Sciences. The Master-level Degree Programme in International Business Management is carried out together with the Central Ostrobothnia University of Applied Sciences.

The school has strong ties with the working world through commissioned theses and projects. There is a strong focus on internationalisation in attitudes and the courses offered, as well as on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial spirit.

School of Food and Agriculture

The School of Food and Agriculture was founded on 1 August 2013. Students can obtain certification as Bachelor of Natural Resources in the Degree Programme in Agriculture and Rural Entreprises (240 credits, in Ilmajoki), as Bachelor of Engineering in the Degree Programme in Food Processing and Biotechnology (210 credits, in Seinäjoki) or Bachelor of Hospitality Management in the Degree programme in Hospitality Management (210 credits, in Seinäjoki).

Entrepreneurship, research and development activities and promotion of welfare are the core principles of School of Food and Agriculture. Teaching focuses on food chain relevant competence. Industrial management and techonology and management are in our area of focus. The Bachelors of Natural Resources, Engineering and Hospitality Management graduating from the the School of Food and Agriculture are sought after experts.

School of Health Care and Social Work

The School of Health Care and Social Work has two locations in Seinäjoki: in the Campus area and in the Koskenala area. Studies are available in the following UAS bachelor degree programmes: Degree Programme in Physiotherapy (Physiotherapist, 210 credits), Degree Programme in Nursing (Registered Nurse, 210 credits or Public Health Nurse 240 credits), Degree Programme in Social Work (Bachelor of Social Services, 210 credits), Degree Programme in Elderly work (Gerontologist, 210 credits). In addition, the school offers education in the English-taught Degree Programme in Nursing (Bachelor of Health Care, Registered Nurse, 210 ECTS credits). In addition to the before mentioned we have started a nonrecurring Degree Programme in Elderdy work (Gerontologist, 210 credits) in Tampere in September 2012 and Degree Programme in Nursing (Registered Nurse, 210 credits) in Ähtäri as part of the Provicial University of South Ostrobothnia activity.

The School of Health Care and Social Work offers high-quality UAS education based on research knowledge, supplemental education and further education, as well as two master-level degree programmes. Students have the opportunity to utilise our extensive international network of higher education by studying abroad. Teaching as well as the research, development and innovation activities meet in open, multi-disciplinary learning environments.

School of Technology

Location: Seinäjoki
Dean: Jorma Nevaranta

The School of Engineering at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences is concentrated around new premises in the Frami area of Kampusranta. The school offers a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in the following programmes (240 ECTS credits): Degree Programme in Automation Engineering, Degree Programme in Mechanical and Production Engineering, Degree Programme in Construction Engineering and Degree Programme in Information Technology.

In addition to the above-mentioned, the School of Engineering also offers certification as a master builder in the Degree Programme in Construction Management (210 credits), and prospective students can obtain a Master's Degree in Engineering in the programme of Technology Competence Management (60 credits) or in the programme of Construction (60 credits).

Students also have the opportunity to complete double degree in the Degree Programme in Automation Engineering or in the Degree Programme in Information Technology in cooperation with Hochschule Aschaffenburg. After completing the double degree a student obtains both a Finnish and a German engineering degree.

The strengths of the School of Engineering include the new premises with state-of-the-art laboratories, the active development of teaching methods and close ties with the region's business sector. The internationalisation process in the school is progressing with vigour; indeed more and more of our students complete some of their studies in the school's partner institutions abroad.

The new teaching method, "SeAMK Projektipaja®", has received several national recognitions and is extremely popular among our students and partner companies. It offers an excellent opportunity to learn by doing whereby students carry out real projects commissioned by companies.
