Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (Seinäjoki UAS) is maintained by the Seinäjoki Joint Municipal Authority for Education until the end of 2013. The Seinäjoki Joint Municipal Authority for Education also runs Vocational Education Centre Sedu and the Vocational Adult Education Sedu.

The operations of Seinäjoki UAS will transfer to the limited company of Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences at the beginning of 2014. The main shareholder of the company is the city of Seinäjoki. Other shareholders include Seinäjoki Joint Municipal Authority for Education, municipality of Ilmajoki and towns of Kurikka and Ähtäri.

Seinäjoki UAS employs about 250 academic staff members. Including also the staff working in the research, development and innovation projects as well as the administrative and support personnel, the total amount of the staff at Seinäjoki UAS is about 450.

The shareholders' meeting has the supreme power of decision in Seinäjoki UAS. The company's board makes the decisions about strategy and strategic operations. There are seven members in the board. Dr Tapio Varmola is both the President of the University of Applied Sciences and the Managing Director of the company.

In addition to the board of the Seinäjoki UAS company, the internal Board of the University of Applied Sciences is also responsible for developing the operations at Seinäjoki UAS. The President of the UAS is the chairperson of the board. The board consists of members representing the academic and non-academic staff and students of the university as well as representatives of the working world. The board is responsible for decisions concerning the strategies and quality assurance for education and RDI activities. It also processes the rectification requests pertaining to student selection.

The President of the UAS Mr Tapio Varmola manages the operations according to strategies and other policies defined by the board. The Director of Administration Mr Mika Soininen manages the administration of the UAS and is acting as a deputy to the President/Managing Director. The Director of Administration also manages the library and information services and the student services.

There are four faculties at Seinäjoki UAS focusing on education and research and development:

School of Technology, Dean Jorma Nevaranta

Seinäjoki UAS is a multi-disciplinary institution of higher education operating on two locations (city of Seinäjoki and municipality of Ilmajoki) and three campuses (Frami, Koskenala and Ilmajoki) from autumn 2013 on. Adult education is also offered in the regional higher education center in cities of Kauhava and Kurikka, and also in areas of Järviseutu, Kuusiokunnat and Suupohja.
