Learning Outcomes

Students have sufficient knowledge of the society and culture of the country, especially on the local level, to be able to cope in everyday life. They will also learn where they to seek additional information. Students understand the structure of social work education in Finland and compare it with their own education. Students understand the content, pedagogical ideas and structure of the studies undertaken in Seinäjoki UAS.

Student's Workload

The extent of the course, 1 ects, equals to a workload of approximately 26 hours for students; 12 hours for classroom activities and study visits, 6 hours for the orientation day, and 6 hours for the student's individual work.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures and discussions, orientation days at Seinäjoki UAS, A presentation on students' education in their home country, A written reflection on students' learning experiences and learning process.

Assessment Criteria

Active participation in lessons and discussion, assignments.

Assessment Methods

The course will be assessed pass/fail. The grade pass means that student's performance must equal to grade 3 (good), which is equivalent to the grade C in the ECTS grading system. Active participation in classroom activities, in the orientation day and in study visits is expected. Students will write a reflective essay of at least 3 pages at the end of the exchange period.
