Learning Outcomes

Students
- know how to explain the operational principles of the Finnish health, social and rehabilitation services and the related legislation
- know Finnish health policy programmes
- are aware of the rights of patients and responsibilities of professionals as regulated by data
protection and confidentiality legislation
- are able to list factors that influence the health and functional capacity of the Finnish population and know how those factors influence the planning and provision of health and social services, rehabilitation and physiotherapy
- have knowledge of the development of rehabilitation and the relevant legislation and see rehabilitation in its social context
- know the system of providing rehabilitation services and counsel their patients/clients on the use of rehabilitation services
- are able to describe the historical development of physiotherapy practice and education
-view patients/clients as equal partners and experts of their own lives and resources
- know concepts related to rehabilitation and are aware of the physiotherapist's role in multiprofessional teams
- are able to counsel and safely assist patients/clients with daily activities

Students can explain and give examples of the legislation that regulates the provision of health, social and rehabilitation services in Finland, seeing it as an integral part of society's function. Students can extensively explain factors that affect people's health and function in various areas of rehabilitation. They are able to describe the wide range of expertise in physiotherapy and the physiotherapy process with help of case studies. Students can define the concept "evidence-based physiotherapy" and provide examples of its importance for physiotherapy practice. They also know how to safely counsel and assist patients/clients with daily activities, paying attention to clients' resources and to justifying their actions.

Good:
Students are aware of and can explain and give examples of the legislation that regulates the provision of health, social and rehabiliation services in Finland, seeing it as an integral part of society's function. Students can explain factors that affect people's health and function in various areas of rehabilitation. They are able to give a physiotherapist's job description and describe the physiotherapy process. Students can define the concept "evidence-based physiotherapy". They also know how to safely counsel and assist patients/clients with daily activities, paying attention to clients' resources.
