Learning Outcomes

CLINICAL COMPETENCE

Students are able to form an overall picture of the patients' needs. Students are able to implement the prevailing nursing interventions and examinations. They know how to follow asepsis in their work. Students are able to counsel and prepare patients for common laboratory and radiographical investigations.

HEALTH PROMOTION COMPETENCE

Students will learn to work according to the principles of rehabilitative nursing. Students will help patients understand and influence factors related to their health.

DECISION-MAKING COMPETENCE

Students are able to plan, implement and evaluate nursing. They are also competent in spoken and written communication. Students are able to draw up a nursing plan according to the recommendations concerning structured documentation. They will possess the ability to systematically document, report and monitor patient data using information technology and networks.

COMPETENCE IN CUSTOMERSHIP IN HEALTH CARE

Students are able to choose and use evidence to argue for their choice of nursing interventions and to implement the interventions in a client/patient-centred manner in different client/patient situations. They will be able to evaluate and develop their work with clients. Students will learn to plan, implement and evaluate the nursing of terminally ill patients and their families.

INTERNATIONALIZATION COMPETENCE

Students are aware of the challenges brought on by internationality.

Contents

Safety in nursing: prevention of infections, introduction to radiographical investigations, coping. Interaction in nursing: sensory functions, expressing sexuality. Breathing and blood circulation: assessment, disorders and nursing interventions, common blood samples, regulation of body temperature. Nutrition and fluid balance: assessment of the nutritional status, basic nutrition, disorders in nutritional status and nursing interventions, fluid balance. Elimination: assessment, disorders and nursing interventions, common urine and stool specimens. Cleanliness and dressing: tissue integrity. Activity: assessment of mobility, supporting moving, rehabilitative approach to nursing, sleeping, working, hobbies,playing. Nursing terminally ill and deceased patients. Supporting the family. Documention and structured documentation in nursing. Internationality in nursing.
