Learning Outcomes

The student knows hiragana and 20-30 kanji. He learns how to greet, introduce himself, tell the time, do shopping and the most common polite phrases. He learns some basic grammar, e.g. the word order in a main clause and in questions.

Assessment Criteria

5 The student knows the hiragana and the kanji learnt during the course making hardly any mistakes. He knows polite phrases, basic vocabulary and knows the word oder in a main clause and questions. The pronunciation is close to that of a native speaker.

3 The student knows hiragana and the kanji learnt during the course but makes some mistakes in using them. He knows how to use polite phrases, basic vocabulary and mainly knows the word order in a main clause and how to build questions. Mistakes don’t impede comprehension. The pronunciation is mainly close to that of a native speaker.

1 The student knows some hiragana and a part of the kanji learnt during the course. He knows how to use some polite phrases and knows a part of the basic vocabulary learnt during the course. The use of the basic grammar is partly inaccurate. Mistakes in pronunciation can impede comprehension.

Assessment Methods

Active participation in contact lessons. All the written and spoken exercises are to be completed. Exam.
