Learning Outcomes

Students will be competent in analysing the structures and functions of the control systems used in machine automation systems. They will be able to utilise the IEC standardised programming tools and to develop reliable control software and a user interface for a materials handling device.

Student's Workload

Total work load of the course: 107 h,
- of which scheduled studies 52 h
- of which self-access learning 55 h

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

- Basics of automation
- Programmable logic controllers

Contents

Structural programming (sequence) ** Function block programming ** Standard functions (timers, calculators, comparisons and other commonly used functions) **Analogue signals **Recipes **User interfaces.

Students will engage in hands-on learning of pneumatically and electrically controlled actuators for automation systems using programmable logic and touch screens.

Recommended or Required Reading
