Learning Outcomes

Part 1: The student knows the system special features to organisms. The student has a basic knowledge of the structure and functions of seed plants and plant anatomy and physiology of the basic concepts. The student knows the structure of plant cell and tissues differentiation of physiological functions at the root adn the stem. Students are able to explain the plant physiological basic functions, such as photosynthesis and water uptake outline.
Part 2: Students will acquire basic knowledge of soil formation and composition and be able to identify types of soils and their physical properties, and their relationship to farming. Students will be aware of the need to drain fields for crop cultivation and know the various methods for draining fields. They will be familiar with the basic concepts associated with meteorology, the factors affecting various weather-related phenomena, and the features of Finland's climate. They will understand the impacts of the meso- and micro-climates, and be capable of utilising the weather service for farming. They will know different drainage methods and the need for them. They will also know how to utilise related research.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Part 1. Lectures 20 hours, excercises 3 hours, exam 2 hours
