Learning Outcomes

Students will learn to name factors, which affect the individual's functional capacity and social engagement with special reference to disability. Students will learn where to seek information on disability and related issues. Under supervision, students will reflect on their values, attitudes and actions.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 1-2:
Students are able to name factors, which affect the individual's functional capacity and social engagement from the perspective of disability. Students know where to seek information of disability and related issues. Under supervision, students reflect on their values, attitudes and actions.
Grade 3-4: Students are able to explain factors, which affect the individual's functional capacity and social engagement from the perspective of disability. Students are able to make observations, seek information and reflect on their conceptions of various disabilities. Students also reflect on their values, attitudes and actions from the perspective of professional ethics.
Grade 5:
Students are able to extensively analyse factors, which affect the individual's functional capacity and social engament from the perspective of disability. Students are able to explain disability and diversity at the levels of the individual, community and society from the following viewpoints, among others: intellectual disability, sensory disability, physical disability and communicative disorders. Students know how to make observations and seek information with a critical and analytical eye. They reflect on their conceptions of disability from multiple perspectives. They analyse and evaluate their values, attitudes and actions from the perspective of professional ethics. Students see their clients as unique individuals.

Assessment Methods

Preliminary assignment 1.5 cr. Work shop: activities 2.5 cr, theory 4 cr. Grading based on a scale 1-5.
