Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students will be competent in analysing their information needs from multiple perspectives. They will be able to name and hierarchically analyse concepts pertaining to their topic. Students will learn to present the library and information services at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences and to name sources of information for the social field. They will learn to select sources, use databases and to evaluate and develop their information seeking skills. Students will learn to interpret databases and online sites and to apply the SeUAS instructions for writing assignments.

Assessment Criteria

Assessment pass (grade 3)/fail:
-Students are competent in analysing their information needs from multiple perspectives. They are able to name and hierarchically analyse concepts pertaining to their topic. Students are able to present the library and information services at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences and to name sources of information for the social field. They know how to select sources, use databases and the Internet and how to use other relevant sources of information. They are able to evaluate the search results. Students know how to interpret databases and online sites and how to apply the SeUAS instructions for writing assignments.

Active participation in classroom and online activities, assignments and exams.

Further Information

This study course has two parts: The first part takes place in the beginning og studies, whereas the second part takes place at the beginning stages of the thesis writing process and concentrates on seeking theoretical and research information for the thesis.
