Learning Outcomes

Students will possess the capacity to analyze contemporary working practices and processes in social work and social services, e.g. from the perspective of the targets of social work, working methods and the work environment. They will also learn to evaluate how the selected working methods correspond to and reflect the needs of clients. The analysis pertains especially to the area in the social services sector chosen by the student.

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses

Workshop related to sector studies and the course "Social services and social security benefits". The course is accomplished at the same time with the practical training period "Psychosocial social work methods"

Contents

- Analysis of social work processes: target, methods, ethics, collaborative partners, legislation, resources and evaluation of professional processes

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Introductory lectures, writing a report, individual counselling, seminars. The Moodle online learning environment will be used.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 3-4 (equals pass):
- Students are able to apply placement practices and the goal-oriented client work process to their work. Students evaluate the impact of their actions in relation to the client's/group's needs. They study contemporary practices and goal-oriented client work processes in light of future challenges.

Assessment Methods

Writing an analysis, active participation in seminars and presentation of the analysis. Grading fail/pass based on students' individual objectives and on the objectives of the curriculum.
