Learning Outcomes
After the course the student has depend insight into fundamental issues on production and operation management, how different theories will work in practice and how to make most of the accounting, science, mathematics and statistics in a business. Student is capable to apply learned theories in real life case.

This course provides an introduction to the field of production and operations management. It is designed to highlight the practical and applied techniques which can improve the organization’s quality and productivity. The course draws upon the student’s knowledge of accounting, science, mathematics, management and statistics.
Recommended or Required Reading
Operations Management, 2001, Heizer, Jay, Render, Barry, Prentice hall, Upper Saddle River, New Jersey.
Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods
The course includes 32 hours of lectures, uncompelled reading of the text books, and writing of essays. Also students are required to take a part in workshops and projects.
Assessment Criteria
Excellent (5): The student has carried out work to an excellent standard and participated actively and constructively. Student has shown in the course ability to comprehend the concepts of the course and apply the concepts in practical business cases: Student has been able to develop creative solutions in the assignment of the course.
Good (4-3): The student has carried out work very well and participated actively and constructively. Student has shown in the course ability to comprehend the concepts of the course and apply the concepts in practical business cases: Student has been able to develop solutions for the case company in the assignment of the course.
Satisfactory (2-1): The student has participated actively in the course. Student has shown in the course ability to comprehend the basic concepts of the course: Student has been able to use the basic concepts of the course in the case company’s assignment.
Assessment Methods
Participation activity in contact teaching (20%), group assignments (20%), individual assignments (60%).
