Learning Outcomes

The projects will be carried out in teams, the written commissions and objectives of which are sent by companies. The commissions are carried out in collaboration with the companies. The objectives of the projects are integrated into R&D activities, which aim to resolve a given problem and to develop and apply measures that help in solving the problem. The outcome of the project is a piece of furniture, range of furniture, a fixed piece of furniture or other interior cladding elements that are appropriate for production in industrial companies. The commissions are chosen such that they are appropriate for the research of future trends.
Upon completion of the course, students will
- be competent in independently managing and creating business contacts and working on teams requiring expert knowledge.
- understand the production process within a company and the business strategies of design and marketing in a company.
- be capable of examining the consumer context of a commission and of applying means to carry out consumer research.

- Familiarisation with commissioner and consumer group and context
- Objectives of commission and areas of responsibility on a team
- Study of consumer information
- Concept and product design
- Prototype appropriate for industrial production
- Documented report of the entire process
- Presentation of the finished product and assessment of the various stages of the process

Assessment Criteria

Grading is based on a scale of 1 to 5. The industrial product development process and the associated products and designing documents are evaluated according to the objectives of the project. Process evaluation requires attendance and participation in mid-term and final progress discussions.
