Learning Outcomes

The studies ingreases students skills making different plant production plans. Student will be familiar with the categorisation of plant diseases and pests as well as the factors influencing the development/growth and life cycle of them. Students will be competent in identifying plant diseases and pests and chosing an appropriate plant protection method.

Students will be familiar with the impact the climate in Finland has on the need to drain soils and irrigate crops. They will also be familiar with various drainage and irrigation methods and their use. Student can make nutrien balance calculations. They can also utilise related research outcomes.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Problem based learning. Introduction lessons.

Assessment Criteria

Level 1. The student knows drainage and irrigation methods and can make crop protection plans and cultivation and production plans if he is guided. The student will find means which can be used to improve the nutrient balance and crop production of the farm.

Level 3. The student knows the importance of drainage and irrigation and can make a cultivation plan, and crop protection plan and calculate the field balance sheets of the farm. The student explains how different factors affect the balance sheets of the state and to the making of the cultivation plan. The student analyses and interprets the cultivation of the farm and the factors which affect it.

Level 5. The student justifies the importance of drainage and irrigation and can make a cultivation plan, crop protection plan and calculate the field balance sheets of the farm. The student thinks and justifies factors which affect the balance sheets and cultivation plan. The student analyses the cultivation of the state and presents the concrete developing measures of the state
