Learning Outcomes

Student know the difference between everyday thinking and scientific knowledge. Critical thinking has developend and s/he knows the basis of sicentific argumentation. Student is able to pinpoint and describe societally and scientifically important challenges and tagets for development and research.

Contents

Scientific and everyday life knowing and the differences between them. Argumenation and critical thinking. Research process and ethical questions. Similarities and differences between qualitative and quantitative research. Methods and methodologies.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 1-2
Student learns critical thinking and argumentation and recogises the process of scientific research and knowledge production.

Grade 3-4
Student is able to compare different sources of information and read texts critically and with an evaluative stance. Student is able to notify and articulate targets for development and research.

Grade 5
Student is able to critically analyse process of knowledge production and know how to argument convincingly.

Assessment Methods

Grading is based on a student's assignments, the scale of 1-5.

Work Placement

Study module contains no practical training.

Back
