Learning Outcomes

Students will gain an understanding of ethics in elderly care, based on a study of values, theories and norms. They will become aware of their responsibility as promoters and defenders of aged people's rights. Students will learn to abide by ethical principles set for elderly care. They will learn to analyse and develop their ethical action and professional practice of the work community.

Students have gained a theoretically justified understanding of ethics in elderly care. They know how to compare solutions, using ethical theories and models and norms of professional ethics. Students abide by and promote the implementation of ethical principles set for elderly care. They reflect on their ethical action and on the professional practice of the work community.

Grade 1
Students have gained an understanding of ethics in elderly care. They are able to present examples of solutions, using norms of professional ethics. Students abide by ethical principles set for elderly care.

Assessment Methods

Active participation in lectures and in discussions on case studies. Students demonstrate their competence by writing an ethical essay, to be assessed numerically.
