Learning Outcomes

Students recognise differences between scientific cogitation and informal reasoning. They will be able to define and implement basic concepts of research and various research methods. They shall be familiar with scientific principles of research ethics. Student has basic knowledge of statistical analysis and is able to carry out a statistical research and report it. They will be competent in applying various methods, concepts and scientific thinking to development, in recognising and analysing areas requiring development, and making written proposals pertaining to those needs. They will also know how to apply collaborative and scientific methods for developing the work community. Student has basic information about different opportunities of information retrieval in his/her own field and to provide skills in the use of different sources of information. Student knows basic scientific conventions and is able to use them. Student has skills for producing theses.

- Scientific cogitation and informal reasoning

Research ethics
- Basic concepts of research and basics of various research methods,
- Basics of information search, scientific writing (structure, style and language of a project report, revision, sources and citation)
- Basics of statistical mathematics
- Compilation of a development plan (implementation of a development project and reporting about it).
- Compilation of statistical research project (implementation and reporting it).
- Thesis writing conventios: structure, style and language in a research report, revision, sources and citation

Students can apply statistical and functional thesis methods and manage the thesis process.
Students apply the principles of scientific reasoning. They can produce data collecting based on quantitative research material. They can describe and analyze the data with statistics program and report the results. They analyze development demands and give motivated development motions. They use different data acquisition methods independently, utilize and value the data critically.
Students apply the conventions of scientific texts in their own academic writing. They can compile a written research report meeting the demands of a scientific text.
