Learning Outcomes

Students will learn to apply rehabilitative and creative methods to supervise and support the well-being, functional capacity and health promotion of various groups of elderly people or family care-givers. They will learn to plan, implement and evaluate a rehabilitation process for the elderly/family care-giver groups/families together with the families.

Contents

- Rehabilitation process of elderly/family care-giver groups: planning, implementation and evaluation. Arranging a recreation day for family care-givers in multi-professional teams

- Work in care-giving families
- Assessment of a family care-giver's functional capacity
- Drawing up a rehabilitation plan, implementation and evaluation
- Planning, organization and evaluation of a recreation day for families of elderly people in multi-professional teamwork with other students in the social and health field and with a network of family care-givers

Assessment Criteria

Level 1 (grade 1-2)
Together with another student, students are able to work in a care-giving family and use one or two rehabilitative methods. Students need a great deal of support from the supervisor to be able to draw up a rehabilitation plan for the family and to manage tasks pertaining to the recreation day.

Level 2 (3-4)
Students work activitely in a care-giving family and use a variety of rehabilitation methods to support the family's functional capacity. Students show initiative and assume responsibility for planning and implementing a recreation day.

Level 3 (grade 5)
Students work actively and creatively in a care-giving family and when planning and implementing a recreation day. Students' rehabilitation plan for the family starts from the family's needs and contains several rehabilitation methods to support the family's functional capacity.

Assessment Methods

- Numerical assessment of the family's rehabilitation plan (pair work) by supervisors of practical training
- Active participation in the planning, organisation and evaluation of the recreation day
