Learning Outcomes

COUNSELLING AND MENTORING COMPETENCE

Students are familiar with the concept of counselling and with related concepts. They know how to apply evidence-based counselling methods. Students are able to describe the meaning of empowerment in planning and implementing counselling. Students know how to act in a client-centred way in nursing and health promotion. Students are able to counsel and support clients/patientd in self-care and management of health problems. Students are able to plan, implement and evaluate counselling- and teaching situations for different environments, situations, clients and patients, families and communities.
Students know how to plan, implement and evaluate counselling situations for both individuals and groups of clients.

Student's Workload

Total workload 40 hours of which 18 hours in the classroom and 22 hours of independent studies according to instructions.

The student is able to
- search, evaluate and use commonly used national and international databases
- plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based counselling of individuals, families and groups
- evaluate and develop his/her counselling competence in nursing practice

Grades 1-2
The student
- is aware of various sources of information and knows how to search national databases
- knows how to plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based counselling of individuals, families and groups
- knows how to evaluate his/her counselling competence in nursing practice

Fail = 0
-Student has little knowledge of how to access national databases
-Student does not know how to plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based counselling of individuals, families and groups
- Students does not know how how to evaluate his/her counselling competence in nursing practice.
