Learning Outcomes
The aim of the course is to study how festivals and events have 'greened’ themselves and what actions they have taken or could take to build their festival more sustainable.
Student's Workload
2 credits equals 54 hours work from which the seminars take 12 hours, study group 10 hours, independent work 32 hours.
Contents
’Greening’ festivals and events has rapidly grown one of the key topics of event management. Many event organisers have changed their way of producing, marketing and thinking as the issue of sustainability gains increasing emphasis on legistlation, customer satisfactory and environmental issues.

Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods
The course consists of two introductory theme seminars. The first is a general introduction to the topic and the second one Case Provinssirock festival’s environmental plan and actions.
The course involves independent study & small research on one of the following topics: Energy and emissions, Transport, Water, Purchasing and resource use and Waste. Small research and the presenting of findings are done in small teams.

Option: The students have a possibility to gain 2 extra credits volunteering at the local Provinssirock festival working in the Green team which helps the festival guests with recycling. The festival takes place June 14-16. After the festival the students write a study journal on their experiences
