Learning Outcomes

Students will understand family caregiving from the perspectives of families/significant others and services. They will familiarise themselves extensively with research, reports and guidelines on family caregiving. They will learn to organise, develop, support and supervise family caregiving. Students will also understand the basic ideas of client-centred rehabilitation philosophy and learn to work in collaboration with other professionals and clients' families/family caregivers.

Total of 78 hours, including 30 hours in the classroom/seminars and 48 hours of independent study

- The experience of being a family care-giver/other informal caregiver in the light of research
- Methods and tools for supporting family caregiving/other informal care
- Challenges in the development of family caregiving

Assessment Criteria

Grade 5
Students know how to apply theoretical knowledge on family caregiving and rehabilitation, taking into consideration the perspectives of the caregiving family/significant others and service provision. Students are familiar with research, reports and guidelines on family caregiving. They know how to organise, develop, support and supervise family caregiving. Students understand what client-centred rehabilitation philosophy involves and they are able to work in collaboration with other professionals and clients' families/family caregivers.

Grade 3
Students know how to intrepret theories on family caregiving and rehabilitation from the perspectives of the caregiving family/significant others and service provision. Students are aware of research, reports and guidelines on family caregiving. They know how to organise, develop, support and supervise family caregiving. Students are aware of client-centred rehabilitation philosophy and they are able to work in collaboration with other professionals and clients' families/family caregivers.

Grade 1
Students are to some extent familiar with theories on family caregiving and rehabilitation from the perspectives of the caregiving family/significant others and service provision. To some extent, students know research, reports and guidelines on family caregiving. They know how to organise, develop, support and supervise family caregiving. Students know the basics of client-centred rehabilitation philosophy and they are able to work in collaboration with other professionals and clients' families/family caregivers.
