Seinäjoki UAS research, development and innovation activies

Research & Development work at Seinäjoki UAS is aiming to practical applications. Projects are carried out in co-operation with companies and organisations in both the private and public sectors. The aim of the project work is to focus on real working life problems and targets for development. RDI activies enable students to increase their working life knowledge and skills in a worthwhile way. Team working and project management skills are needed in all areas of work.

Activies focus on developing the strategic expertise of Seinäjoki UAS and the needs of regional clients in the chosen fields. RDI activities are carried out in all faculties of Seinäjoki UAS. The RDI activities are supported by the regional higher education center in the regional higher education center in cities of Ähtäri, Kurikka and Kauhava, and also in the areas of Järviseutu and Suupohja.

At Seinäjoki UAS, RDI activities are integrated into teaching through various integration formats. For example, Projektipaja offers students the opportunity to carry out development projects for companies. In the new, open learning environment FramiPro, students of different fields of study conduct a part of their studies in projects. Learning is based on assignments by the order of working life representatives. The students solve the assigned problems by experimenting, researching and utilizing their innovativeness and creativity.

Projects

The RDI activities in Seinäjoki UAS comprise projects and services which students can participate during the study modules they choose. The institution participates in the projects as an expert in applied research. The projects are usually research and development projects put together by many different stakeholders. International projects are also becoming more common.

Also, the numerous theses produced by our students are an important resource in research and development. They are usually commissioned by a company or organisation or part of a larger RDI project. A thesis commissioned by a company or organisation gives the student hands-on knowledge of the working world. It may also open the door to a future job position.

Expertise at Seinäjoki UAS is developed into service products and offered at the market price to clients. The services include for example developing production and entrepreneurship in the business sector, internationalization and market research. Seinäjoki UAS also produce user-driven training services for various organizations.
