Learning Outcomes
Students will get to know the anatomical, functional and biological processes brought on by old age and they will study the mental and social aspects of ageing. They will understand the effects of these changes on daily activities. Students will learn to assess elderly people's functional capacity by means of various instruments. They will also become competent in defining and promoting the health, well-being and functional capacity of elderly people.

Age-related anatomical and functional changes in body systems, individual ageing
- The multi-dimensional nature of functional capacity and its assessment
-Factors in the environment and community that promote and impair functional capacity; promotion of self-esteem, life management, welfare, health and functional capacity in elderly clients
- Prevention of falls
- Demonstrations and exercises in assessing an elderly person's functional capacity
