Learning Outcomes

After the course the student understands the main theoretical framework of information retrieval and s/he is able to use the theory also in practice. The student knows how to use the main tools of the web search which are needed in the library work and s/he also has a knowledge of how to use the most important library databases.

Satisfactory (1-2)
The student is able to make enquiries to the search robot and solve problems which arise in Information need situations successfully.

Good (3-4)
The student is able to use more developed and sophisticated methods, e. g. advanced search and special search engines, in information retrieval.

Excellent (5)
The student is able to succeed in finding information in challenging information retrieval tasks and s/he can use creatively and intense theoretical know-how in respective themes.
