Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to differentiate between various automation systems and identify the components used in them. They will understand how automation systems work. Students will be knowledgeable of the structure, function and connections of relays and PLC drivers and the more common types of sensors and actuators. They will learn the idea behind the logic needed in automation technology.

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses
No previous studies are required.
Contents
Development of automation and automation technology, - What is automation?, - Control and regulation, control systems for automation, sensors, actuators, programmable logics, components for a control system, - Common connections for sensors and actuators into programmable logics, - Practice making connections in the lab, - Familiarisation with various automation control system.
