Learning Outcomes

Students observe the values and ethical principles of public health nursing and health promotion. They are able to work independently, in a responsible and innovate manner in various public health nursing duties. Students are able to evaluate and develop their professional competence to meet worklife challenges at different stages of their career. They know how to apply health and welfare strategies in the planning, implementation and evaluation of public health nursing. Students are capable of working in multiprofessional teams, networks and projects. They are able to supervise and manage teams. Students are able to make decisions in unanticipated situations and settings. They know how to develop their work community skills in the practice, management and development of public health nursing. Students are aware of entrepreneurial options in public health nursing. They are aware of their development, innovation and research competence and know how to promote it in their expert work in health promotion. Students keep up to date with research findings and development ideas and apply them in their work. They develop public health nursing in an innovative manner to meet the needs of society and work life.

Values and ethical principles in public health nursing and health promotion. Professional identity, accountability and responsibility. Development-oriented approach to work, activity in developing one's work. Presentation skills. Evaluating one's competence and identifying development challenges, career development. Internationalim in the public health nurse's work. Management of public health nursing at various levels, welfare strategies and reports. Cross-sectoral and multidisciplinary networking, partnership with stakeholders. Working in projects and undertakings and their sectors. Managing teams/groups in public health nursing. The role of an immediate supervisor and the employee's accountability, rights and duties, work contract and collective labour agreement. Managing one's work, self-management, independent work.
