Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students will be competent in:
- creating free body diagrams of a particle and a rigid body, forming equations of equilibrium from them and solving unknown support reactions.
- calculating the normal forces, shear forces, bending moments and torsional moments of a beam and making corresponding loading diagrams.
- calculating the co-ordinates of the centre of gravity equilibrium point of a body.
- calculating the bar forces of plane trusses and the forces and momentums concentrated on beam structures.
- observing the impacts of friction on static structures.

Student's Workload

Will be announced at the beginning of the course.
