Learning Outcomes
Students will be competent in communicating appropriately and purposefully in communicative situations in the working life, also in multicultural situations. They will be able to evaluate and develop their communication skills. They will be competent in writing out standard documents and in using normative language and references.

Contents
Part 1. 2 ects Written communication: documents needed at work (e.g. press release, application), writing an article, expressing opinion, using sources (Seinäjoki UAS instructions), communication plan, publicity in crisis.
Part 2. 2 ects Oral communication: speeches and demonstrations, argumentation, meetings, negotiations.
Part 3. 1 ects Academic writing: requirements of reporting a research, writing thesis (Seinäjoki UAS instructions) and other academic publications, source criticism.

Lectures, speech and conversation exercises, group work, distance learnig, written exercises partly net supported.
Assessment Criteria
5: Students can skillfully, convincingly and responsibly take the situation, the aim and the receiver into consideration in their communication and interaction, also in multicultural contexts. The texture is chosen according to the text genre. The text is logical and fluent. Argumentation is varied and convincing. The illustration is appropriate, effective and intentional. Students can evaluate their communication realistically according to the requirements of the situation and profession.
3: Students can take the situation, the aim and the receiver partly into consideration. They can recognize the cultural influences in communication to some extend. The texture is mainly logical and fluent. Argumentation is mostly varied and convincing. The illustration is appropriate. Students can evaluate their communication in some aspects.
1: Students can communicate only from their point of view: they cannot take into consideration the situational requirements in their communication enough. The texture is unlogical and argumentation is one-sided and sparse. The illustration is inadequate and not supporting the message. Students can evaluate their communication only from their point of view.
Assessment Methods
Active participating in lessons, oral and written assignments completed in class and independently. Grading based on the scale of accepted, 1 - 5.
