Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will understand the knowledge base in the field of social work and how it is derived from multiple disciplines and sources of knowledge. They will become aware of how reflective activity and the relationship between the individual and society/community shape their work. They will be able to describe the historical development of social work in Finland and explore current areas of professional practice. They will know how to define the aims of social work and their connection with the underpinning values, conceptions of human nature, theoretical models and ethical principles. Students will learn to use social field concepts in oral and written communication and to explore social work as a professional practice from mulitple perpectives.
