Learning Outcomes
Students will learn to examine and interpret old age and ageing through gerontological theories and models and from a multi-disciplinary perspective. They will know how to analyse ageing through theory at the level of the individual, culture and society. They will learn to explain ageing as a multidimensional process of adaptation and development. They will learn to describe different approaches to gerontological research. Students will be able to analyse factors which influence the learning of elderly people. They will also know where to seek and how to use gerontological knowledge in their studies and in the practice and development of elderly care.

Assessment Criteria
Level 1 (grade 1-2)
Students can provide a narrow description of old age and ageing based on gerontological theories and models. They can explain ageing as an adaptation and development process. Studens are aware of various approaches to gerontological research. They are able to list factors that affect learning in later lafe. Students also know how to use gerontological knowledge in their studies and elderly care practice.
Level 2 (grade 3-4)
Students are able to analyse old age and ageing through gerontological theories and models and from a multi-disciplinary perspective. They know how to analyse ageing at the levels of the individual, culture and society. Students can explain ageing as a multi-dimensional process of adaptation and development.
