Learning Outcomes

The students will:
- learn to tell about/describe the stages of growth and development in children and young people
- know how to interact with children and young people in a natural way
- learn to use reliable tests and instruments to assess psychomotor development in children and young people
- list the effects of moving/exercise to the total development of children and young people and know national physical activity recommendations for toddlers and school-aged children
- learn to supervise children's play and exercise individually and in groups
- know/recognize common childhood and youth diseases and developmental disorders and understand their effects on the child's/adolescent's mobility and function
- learn to draw conclusions based on their assessment of the child's/adolescent's mobility and function
- appropriately plan and implement physiotherapy methods to help children and young people while also taking the family's needs and resources into consideration
- apply various sports for special needs in practical guidance situations
- gain further knowledge of what benefits and rights children and young people with special needs and their families have, as regulated by rehabilitation laws
- in a rehabilitation path assignment, describe the multi-professional rehabilitation process of a child with special needs
- study the special features of assistive aids for children and young people
-use evidence-based knowledge in their study of child and youth physiotherapy
- learn to work in projects as team members
