Learning Outcomes

Students know how to use nursing interventions to respond to their patients' nursing needs and how to implement structured documentation using uniform classification. Students know how to apply the principles of preventing infections and explain why this is important in clinical nursing. Students know how to assess resources of patients and families from different cultural backgrounds and support them in planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. They know how to act in common first aid and life support situations. Students know how to plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based nursing interventions. Students take a rehabilition and resource-centred approach to their work with patients and family members of all ages. Students assess needs for care using appropriate clinical and physiological tools or instruments, prioritise their findings and enter them onto the structured documentation system. Students know how to plan, implement and evaluate patients' drug care. Students implement Fnnish nutritional guidelines. They understand the principles of safety management and sustainable development and are aware of their own responsibility in promoting these principles at the workplace. Students evaluate their professional competence critically from the perspectives of strengths and development needs.

Contents

Practical training in settings which allow students to practise basic client-centred clinical nursing. Writing and presenting an assignment. eDrug Care Certificate. Competence test.

Assessment Methods

Pass-fail for practical training, including competence test. To pass this practical training period, students must reach the learning outcomes defined and enter their self-evaluation onto the electronic portfolio.

Practical training (pass) and evaluation of competence, work rota, complementing the eDrug Care Certificate online, drawing up and presenting a patient's nursing plan using structured documentation.
