Learning Outcomes
Students will
- learn to explain the operational principles of the Finnish health, social and rehabilitation services and the related legislation, policy programmes and future challenges
- study the rights of patients and the responsibilities of professionals as regulated by Data Protection and Confidentiality legislation
- explore factors that influence the health and functional capacity of the Finnish population and understand the significance of those factors in the planning and provision of health and social services, rehabilitation and physiotherapy
- study the development of rehabilitation and the relevant legislation and learn to see rehabilitation in its social context
- learn to know the system of providing rehabilitation services and counsel their patients/clients on the use of rehabilitation services
- learn to describe the historical development of physiotherapy practice and education
-learn to view patients/clients as equal partners and experts of their own lives and resources
- know concepts related to rehabilitation and study the physiotherapist's role in multiprofessional teams
- learn to counsel and safely assist patients/clients with daily activities
- become familiar with the physiotherapy process and learn the physiotherapy terminology used in documentation
- understand the concept of evidence-based physiotherapy and know its importance in physiotherapy practice
