Learning Outcomes
The Government Decree on Polytechnics (352/2003) states the following about Maturity Tests:
"To receive a polytechnic degree, students must sit a Maturity Test pertaining to the topic of their thesis. The Maturity Test provides indication that students are familiar with the topic and that they possess skills in the Finnish or Swedish languages. The polytechnic decides on the Maturity Test in the event a student is not required to abide by the regulation stated in Article 8, Paragraph 1." (unofficial translation)

Assessment Methods
Maturity Tests are graded on a pass/fail basis. Both the content and linguistic form are evaluated and either the content or the linguistic form can be the basis for receiving a failing grade.
