Learning Outcomes

Students will:
learn to name respiratory and cardiovascular disorders and diseases of adult clients; learn to measure and assess respiratory and cardiac patients' mobility and functional capacity by physiotherapy methods; learn to interpret the results and based on the results, to plan physiotherapy for respiratory and cardiac patients; learn to name how internal diseases affect functional capacity and, based on physiotherapy examination, to define medical patients' functional capacity and need for physiotherapy; apply the principles of therapeutic exercise and health promotion in physiotherapy for various groups of clients/patients; know how to supervise physical exercises for special needs groups; learn to identify physical and mental change and to interpret body-mind connections; become familiar with mental disorders and learn to implement physiotherapy that support mental health; learn a broad definition of work ability and of activities that promote ability to work; become aware of the role of occupational physiotherapy as part of the occupational health services; learn to discuss laws and regulations on occupational health service; identify ergonomic factors and/or factors pertaining to work stress; in their workplace surveys, report on essential factors pertaining to work ergonomics and physical work stress and suggest improvements

Contents

Respiratory and cardiovascular disorders and physiotherapy; internal diseases and physiotherapy; pre and post-operative physiotherapy for surgical patients; mental disorders and physiotherapy that promotes mental health; psychophysical physiotherapy; occupational physiotherapy; planning and implementation of physical exercise in the promotion of work ability; applied physical exercise for special needs groups; well-being at work; occupational health service and relevant legislation; the concept of ergonomics and physical stress at work; workplace ergonomic survey and report, including improvement suggestions
