Learning Outcomes

Students learn to take into consideration various environmental factors which promote or threaten their clients' health. Students promote the creation of a healthy, safe and easily accessible environment. They cooperate with other professionals in special or exceptional situations in the area of environmental health. Students are able to prevent accidents and to administer first aid. In their work, they observe national and international guidelines and regulations on the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. Students know how to prevent and treat infectious diseases and counsel clients in their home country. Students implement the national immunisation programme and health counselling for travellers.

Contents

Environmental health legislation and service provision system. Global, national and local environmental factors, which maintain, strengthen or threaten people's health. Environmental responsibility, sustainable development, health protection. The most important methods of assessing environmental and community health. Creating a healthy, safe and easily accessible environment. Multiprofessional cooperation in the promotion of environmental health. Prevention of accidents at home, work and in leisure time, first aid. Prevention of infectious diseases and the related laws and guidelines. Monitoring the situation pertaining to infectious diseases. Diagnosis and treatment of infectous diseases and referral to care. Immunisation services and programme, epidemics and immunisation campaigns. Health counselling and vaccinations for travellers and people of all ages.
