Learning Outcomes

Students will be familiar with the basics of seed and seedling production. They will understand the physiology, handling and purchasing process of the seeds of trees that grow in Finland and how to grow forest trees, as well as the cost calculations involved in growing. They will also be aware of the stages of growth of seedlings, requirements concerning quality, and price formation. Students will be familiar with the guidelines and requirements related to the trade of forest tree seeds and seedlings, as well as with tree breeding and the basic methods of breeding.
