Learning Outcomes
Students will be competent in designing traditional concrete structures in ultimate and serviceability limit states according to the Eurocodes. They will be capable of using computer programmes in the designing process.

Prerequisites / Recommended Optional Courses
Statics, Strength of Materials, Basics of FEM, Concrete Technology, Framework Systems and Basics of Structural Design.
Contents
• Characteristic and design strength of concrete and steel
• Elastic properties of concrete and steel
• Exposure class
• Design of beams, one-way slabs, columns, walls and footings in the ultimate limit state
• Anchorage of steel bars and laps
• Punching shear
• Design in the serviceability limit state: cracking and deflection
• Constructional notes: reinforcement and structural parts
• Computer programmes for designing of concrete structures
