Learning Outcomes
Occupational and environmental safety in construction
Students are aware of the impact of site preparation (e.g. clearing, excavation, quarrying) on occupational and environmental safety.
Competence in structural engineering
Students have basic knowledge of the formation of the soil and bedrock, of the composition of the various types of soil and of their suitability as a foundation for construction. Students know the most important regulations and instruction on foundation construction. They have basic knowledge of rock and soil foundations, piling, and of the relevant work methods. Students know how to seek information independently to develop their quality management competence. They know the important building properties of various types of soil and the impact the soil and the working conditions have on the earthwork. Students know the work stages and methods of earthwork. They know how to choose the necessary machinery and equipment. They know the concepts related to volume and mass coefficients in earthwork. Starting from baseline data, students also know how to measure and place structures on site.
Competence in the construction process
Students understand the role of geotechnics and foundation construction as part of a construction project, and take into consideration how they affect the total cost of the project.
Competence in repair construction
Students know how to measure the sites of old structures and place new structures.
Competence in infra construction
Starting from baseline data, students know how to determine the measurements on site and place a building and the lot.
