Mode of Delivery / Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Classroom teaching, virtual learning, and independent work. Individual and team work. There is a group-specific Moodle platform in use on the course.

Assessment Criteria

Grade 1: CEF level B1, possibly more than one area at a lower competency level (A2). All the assignments and sub-assignments done and submitted to Moodle in agreed time.
Grade 2: The student’s skills are partly at level A2, partly already at level B1.
Grade 3: In all the areas of the student’s language skills, CEF in general at competency level B1. Sub-assignments completed and at the general level of B1.
Grade 4: The student’s skills partly at competency level B1, partly at B2.
Grade 5: The student’s skills as a whole at least at competency level B2.
CEF = Common European Framework of Reference for languages

Assessment Methods

The assessment of the course (scale 1 to 5) is influenced by the following factors:

1. All the sub-assignments shall be done and submitted to Moodle in agreed time. If some of the sub-assignments remain(s) uncompleted, it is not possible to complete the course.

2. Courses in foreign languages at Seinäjoki UAS are subject to the following rule: to complete the course, participation in at least 50 percent of the classroom teaching is required. In case the student’s absence exceeds 20 percent of the total number of classes, this will affect the student’s final grade.
