Student health care and welfare services
Student health care
In all the localities where Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences has operations student health care services have been arranged in cooperation with the municipal health care services of the locality. According to the Primary Health Care Act (L1326/2010, 17 §), all students are entitled to receive health care irrespective of what their place of domicile is.
Student health care is preventive health care. The aim is to promote the student’s health and ability to study as well as to strengthen their positive resources. Health care includes general health care, medical care, dentistry, and ensuring that the conditions in the study environment are healthy. Student health care services are also available during practical training. Health care services are provided by public health nurses, together with a doctor and a psychologist.
All first-year students are sent an electronic health enquiry. If needed, the student will be referred to further examinations and care, as well as to rehabilitation.
Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences wants to take care of its students’ comprehensive well-being. The aim is to offer students help and support with acute situations, but also to evoke their interest in the upkeep of their own well-being during their studies and later on in working life. The welfare services have been developed in cooperation with a network of experts.
